Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway musical, Hamilton broke records and barriers, and it even transcended into mainstream pop culture that you don't have to be a theater geek to know what it is.
However despite the show's fame it is still a live stage production and not everyone is lucky enough to have the means to watch the stage tour or the ongoing productions in London, New York and Chicago.
So for it to reach a larger audience it would need another medium, and a movie version would be the way to go. Well good news there is already a film, now if you are thinking why you haven't heard of a film version being made. There is a good reason for that, they did not make one, instead they shot the live production in 2016 before Miranda left his role as the title character Alexander Hamilton on 2016. Bad news though, it won't be released for the next two years.
According to insiders who spoke to the Wall Street Journal , this is because they still want to maximise audiences for the live shows. Already Studios are bidding for the right to distribute, and we may get to see it in cinemas on 2020 or perhaps streaming services like another Broadway musical, Newsies on Netflix?
I guess we have no choice but just to patiently wait, now how about a Dear Evan Hansen movie?
