According to sources, The Lego Movie co-director Chris McKay will be in charge of directing the sequel to this successful film.

McKay’s previous works include directing the animated series Robot Chicken, Titan Maximum, and a short-film called The Last Pizza Commercial. For The Lego Movie he served as animation co-director and animation supervisor. Directors Chris Lord and Phil Miller will return for the sequel only as producers, while Michelle Morgan and Jared Stern will write the sequel.

But we will have to wait a bit to see the sequel of these famous toys, as it was announced a few weeks ago that Warner Bros set may 26th 2017 as the release date. The direction of the story for this sequel is a mystery for now, as it has not been decided yet if it will be The Lego Movie 2 or if they will expand the universe and include the popular character Ninjago.

Whatever they decide, the sequel will most likely be a financial success and a hit with fans of the first film!
