Things have been working out pretty well for ABC up to this point, as far as its fresh television series are concerned. However, it might have been the first network to add episodes to some of its series, but it is also the first one to cut off the first new show of the fall season.
Even though everything seemed pretty normal with the weeks passing and no TV series being scrapped during this fall season, that time has once again arrived. ABC has now announced that its new romantic comedy, Manhattan Love Story, will not be continued, marking the first show to receive such treatment during this season. It’s true that the series never managed to achieve any short of significant ratings, not even during its season premiere. However, the decision was taken after the latest episode reached new lows in the 18-49 demographic, those of 0.7.
ABC didn’t really go well with its freshmen comedies this time around, as Selfie is also under-performing, though it is still on air. Despite those negative numbers, the network has been ordering extra episodes from Black-ish, Grey’s Anatomy, Castle, The Goldbergs, Modern Family, Once Upon A Time and The Middle, so there’s a lot of new and old shows that currently bring in the necessary numbers.
