Modern Family Actress Elizabeth Pena Dies At 55

So sad, and still so young.

Actress Elizabeth Pena, most notably known for her roles in La Bamba, Rush Hour, and more recently as Gloria’s mother in Modern Family, died on Tuesday after a brief illness.

She was only 55-years-old.

Following the announcement of her passing, her “La Bamba” co-star Lou Diamond Phillips said in a statement:

I am stunned and heartbroken, just found out about the passing of my friend Elizabeth Peña. She was such a Life Force it’s hard to believe.

No other details surrounding her death have been revealed.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband, mother, sister and two children.
