The life and times of The Wind in the Willows writer is set to get the big screen treatment.
Adrien Brody is attached to play Kenneth Grahame in Banking on Mr. Toad the biopic set to depict the author’s personal and professional life from the relationship with his wife and son to the publication of his most well-known work The Wind in the Willows. The news was first reported by Screen Daily.
Of the role, Brody is quoted as saying he was “moved to tears by this compelling tale of a father’s love for his child, and how the obstacles in life sometimes provide the spark of creativity to conquer them. This beautiful script has the power to remind us of our humanity and speaks to children and adults alike.”
Brody will also serve as a producer of the film that will be a blend of live-action and CGI. Brian Blessed (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace) is also on board as Grahame’s best friend William Furnivall.
The article notes that this film has been 10-years in the making and at one point The Fantastic Four’s Ioan Gruffudd attached to the title role.
The film, to be directed by Mexican director, Luis Mandoki with a screenplay by Timothy W. Haas is set to start shooting in the UK at the end of 2013.
