Aiden Gillen Trades Coins For Magic In New Sci-Fi Short

Game of Thrones’ Aiden Gillen plays a world-creating wizard who tries to teach us the future of humanity in the new sci-fi short, Ambition.

In a stunning new sci-fi short film, Game of Thrones‘ Aiden Gillen, who we all know as the devious manipulator Littlefinger in the hit HBO series, is taking on another role as a master wizard teaching his apprentice how to create life.

Commissioned by the European Space Agency, the film titled Ambition is meant to promote the ongoing Rosetta space mission, which is a 10 year project that involved the launch of a space probe to study in detail a nearby comet.

Amidst the stunning visuals, the film explains the mission and its importance. While most people would fall asleep if presented with this kind of explanation, this film does an excellent job. Throw in some stunning visuals, special effects, and a compelling semi-fantasy story, and you have people hooked on what may be described as a simple science and exploration lecture.

In the film, Aiden Gillen is a wizard with the ability to manipulate matter at a molecular level. It is not really magic, since it is implied that this is the future of humanity. He may be using some form of highly advanced technology. He tries to teach his apprentice, played by actress Aisling Franciosi, on how to create worlds. As a part of his lecture, he narrates the story of the Rosetta Space Mission and explains the importance of the knowledge learned there in understanding on how life on earth first started.

Ambition was shot in Iceland , and was directed by Academy Award winning director Tomek Baginski.
