As the great narrator once sung, Arabian nights are like Arabian days. Much to our enjoyment, the Aladdin Broadway musical is looking to be as magical as the original Academy Award-winning Disney animated film!
The latest transition from heartfelt childhood cartoon musical to sing-along Broadway play, Aladdin has received much anticipation since it was confirmed late last year.
The musical comedy opened on March 20th at the New Amsterdam Theater to rave reviews. For those of us without easy access to Manhattan’s theatrical venues, ABC has graced us with three chances to gain a sneak peek!
Good Morning America gave us a behind-the-scenes first look on April 14 and a performance of “Arabian Nights” broadcast live from the stage of the New Amsterdam the next day. Tuesday afternoon brought us a performance of “Prince Ali” on The View, and interviews with the director/choreographer and stars on Nightline that evening.
The production includes four songs from the original Academy Award-winning film, as well as Jonathan Freeman reprising the role he voiced in 1992, Jafar.
Enjoy the GMA performance of “Arabian Nights” below and be sure to visit the official Aladdin website for tickets!
