AMC Orders Pilot For TV Adaptation Of Comic ‘Preacher’

Vertigo Comics’ very own ‘Preacher’ is receiving its very own television adaptation by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, with a pilot now ordered by AMC.

Preacher has been one of Vertigo Comics’ most successful installments ever since it got out in the 90’s. As it seems, the comic books are finally scheduled to come to life, as a television adaptation by AMC has been set for good and a pilot commitment has been made.

Preacher follows the adventures of an actual preacher from Texas, who is posessed by an entity called Genesis, which brings both an angel and a demon in him. Having the ability to make everyone do what he says, the preacher joins forces with an ex-girlfriend and an Irish vampire on a trip to find God. Apparently, the Almighty is no longer in heaven and needs to be found, as he’s considered responsible for the poor preacher’s drama.

Plans include filming the pilot for Preacher in 2015 and it will be considered for television in 2016. Even though it wasn’t picked up straight with a put pilot commitment, it will most likely end up on our screens, as one of the upcoming series with great potential.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have moved forward with adapting the well-known comics into television. Those two will be responsible for the executive production of Preacher, while Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios will be producing the series. Sam Catlin will be the one writing the scipt of the show and she will also serve as the showrunner.
