For nine seasons, Ryan Murphy has been finding new ways to scare and entertain us with American Horror Story. Typically, done by the same recurring cast taking on different characters in a different story each season. This year, it looks like we once again returning to the world of American Horror Story, as Ryan Murphy announces the cast for season 10.

Season 10 Cast introduces Macaulay Culkin into the mix.

Included in the cast list are a few familiar faces that we are used to seeing such as Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, and Kathy Bates. In fact, all of the cast listed in the announcement are veterans of the show excluding Macaulay Culkin. Given that it is rare that Ryan Murphy only collaborates with someone once, there is a good chance that we will see Macaulay Culkin in future Ryan Murphy projects as well.

The announcement did not give any hints as to the theme of the new season.

The announcement gave almost nothing away about the theme of the new season. The show has gone through multiple iterations in the past, each thrilling in their own way. The last season was themed “1984” and played homage to slasher films of the 80s era in a camp setting. The only hint we received from the cast announcement video was a beach in the background.

Perhaps this hints at a possible beach or water themed season?

We’ve lived in the murder house, we’ve escaped the asylum, we’ve been in the coven, we’ve attended the freak show, we’ve stayed at the hotel, we’ve survived Roanoke, we’ve been in the cult, we’ve survived the apocalypse, and we’ve escaped Camp Redwood. Now is it time for us to venture onto a beach for our thrills? Past fan theories for older seasons were a cruise ship or a submarine. Maybe the beach in the announcement video means that we’re finally venturing into the sea. Whatever it is, Ryan Murphy can be trusted to make it a thrilling and new experience. The series will presuambly air in the fall as previous seasons did.
