Sarah Goddard

Staff Writer

FX and Lionsgate TV are teaming up to develop a television series sequel to the 2000 feature film, American Psycho. The series will take place decades after the events in the film and will follow Patrick Bateman, now in his mid-50’s, who takes on a protégé in a sadistic social experiment, and who will eventually become his successor – “A next generation American Psycho”

The project will be executive produced by Lionsgate president of motion picture production Shearmur (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) alongside Ed Pressman and signed up to pen the series is Danish writer, Stefan Jaworski (Those Who Kill)

American Psycho was originally released in 2000 and is based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel of the same name. Starring Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, a wealthy Manhattan investment banker whose life revolves around trendy restaurants, his fiancée Evelyn (Reece Witherspoon) and his circle of equally wealthy and equally shallow friends.
