Christmas is coming early for fans of the hit comedy movie Anchorman as Paramount announced yesterday that its sequel, Anchorman 2, will open in cinemas two days earlier than originally scheduled.
Set for a December 20 release, the comedy has been brought forward and will now open midweek on December 18, obviously hoping to get a jump start on the bumper Christmas period dollar.
However, the film is likely to face stiff competition. Also released on the 18th is Sony’s American Hustle (with an all-star cast including Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and Christian Bale) and Disney’s Saving Mr Banks (starring Oscar-winners Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson).
Anchorman 2 reunites Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner and Christina Applegate. Joining them this time around is a whole host of famous faces including Harrison Ford, James Marsden, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and Kristen Wiig.
