Angelina Jolie Confirms Retirement From Acting

You heard that right. One of the best and most valued actresses of our time- Angelina Jolie- has announced her retirement from acting.

Over the years, Jolie has gradually grown an interest in the filmmaking business, choosing to be behind the camera instead of in front of it, with films such as In the Land of Blood and Honey, as well as her most recent directorial venture, Unbroken, which is set to release this December.

Jolie most recently starred in the Sleeping Beauty adaptation Maleficent, and it is suspected that she will start a clean slate, away from the acting business after the release of the biopic in which she portrays the infamous Cleopatra, as well as the rumored possibility of reprising her role in Salt 2. However, both films are yet to go into production, so we can safely assume it will still be a few more years before Jolie completely retires from her acting gig.

Sitting down with Du Jour, Jolie admitted, about her decision to retire, that:

I’ve never been comfortable as an actor; I’ve never loved being in front of the camera…I didn’t ever think I could direct, but I hope I’m able to have a career at it because I’m much happier.

It will still be a few years before we stop seeing Jolie on-screen, however, as next year brings about not only her voice as Tigress in Kung Fu Panda 3 once again, but also Jolie starring opposite her husband, Brad Pitt in By the Sea, directed and written by Jolie herself.
