Magnificent Maleficent! If you’re not already excited about seeing Angelina Jolie as the wicked witch Maleficent, you soon will be!
In the “untold story” of the Mistress of All Evil, Jolie will play the spooky villain from Disney’s 1959 classic, Sleeping Beauty; who we all know gave baby Princess Aurora a birthday gift that wasn’t exactly sunshine and rainbows.
The trailer for the film was just released today, following the release of the official poster (see above) that was released yesterday. The first look at Jolie as the horned enchantress is inspired; with her accentuated cheek bones, killer costume and those eyes…Jolie is stunning.
The trailer shows Aurora (played by Elle Fanning) in a dark, magical forest talking to the “shadow” that has been following her ever since she was a child. She talks to this shadow as if it were a small, cute puppy saying come out, “Don’t be afraid.”
Oh, Aurora…run the other way!
Jolie spoke earlier this summer at Disney’s D23 Expo about the character Maleficent and how she has been a longtime fan of the Disney devil. “Since I was a little girl, I was drawn to her. But I was also terrified by her, but she had this elegance and grace,” she said.
Juno Temple, Sharlto Copley, Brenton Thwaites and newest Time Lord, Peter Capaldi, costar in the film, which is set to open May 30th of next year.
