Anna Paquin’s scenes as Rogue in Marvel’s X-Men: Days of Future Past won’t be making it to the big screen in the final cut of the film.
Director Bryan Singer stated that Paquin “completely understood” his decision to cut the scene and that her acting had nothing to do with it.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Singer axed a “rescue sequence” featuring Magneto, DoctorX, Iceman, and Rogue – cutting out Paquin’s only scene.
Singer explained his decision to EW.com:
“It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go … Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.”
According to HitFlix, there is a chance Paquin’s Rogue could appear in the movie during reshoots.
X-Men: First Class was Paquin’s latest portrayal of Rogue, and was the fourth time she had played the character.
X-Men: Days of Future Past will hit theaters on May 23, 2014.
