Could a Buffy spinoff be in the works? Possibly, if actor Anthony Head has any say in the matter.
Head, who played Giles in the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer has said that he is “still game” for starring in a spin-off. In fact, Joss Whedon, the creator of Buffy already began developing a spin-off for Head’s character, Ripper, which was in development at the BBC in 2001.
As for working with Whedon again, Head had this to say:
“I would do anything to work with Joss again. He’s a wonderful storyteller, a great director, and a lovely man. I would love to, you know? Whether it’s Ripper or something else.”
According to reports, the spin-off would be highly focused on Giles’ story once he left the Scoobies. Head said, “It’s a beautiful, beautiful ghost story, and it’s extremely haunting, as you would expect of Joss.”
Though nothing is set in stone, the reports of this possible spin-off have Buffy fans very excited. Would you watch Ripper if it was brought to television? Let us know in the comments!
