Apple Claims Their Servers Were Not Breached For Celeb Nude Leak

In a recent press release, Apple claims their servers were not breached in the celebrity nude leak. They hope to restore their customers’ confidence.

Apple recently released a statement saying that none of their systems were breached in the recent leaked celebrity nude photo debacle.

Apple said intimate photos of celebrities, including academy award winning Jennifer Lawrence, were leaked online through apparent hacking of their individual iCloud accounts.

After the backlash towards the company as the news spread, Apple rushed to restore confidence in its systems’ security by releasing a statement on Tuesday:

We wanted to provide an update to our investigation into the theft of photos of certain celebrities. When we learned of the theft, we were outraged and immediately mobilized Apple’s engineers to discover the source. Our customers’ privacy and security are of utmost importance to us. After more than 40 hours of investigation, we have discovered that certain celebrity accounts were compromised by a very targeted attack on user names, passwords and security questions, a practice that has become all too common on the Internet. None of the cases we have investigated has resulted from any breach in any of Apple’s systems including iCloud or Find my iPhone. We are continuing to work with law enforcement to help identify the criminals involved.”

It is suspected that the Hackers used so-called brute-force software to cycle through large numbers of possible passwords during log-in attempts, enabling them to access the private content.

The tech company’s update came a day after the US law enforcement agency said, “The FBI is aware of the allegations concerning computer intrusions and the unlawful release of material involving high-profile individuals, and is addressing the matter.”

No suspects have been called into question as of yet.
