Aquaman Mentioned In Deleted Scene From The Flash

Aquaman was hinted at in a deleted scene from The Flash’s first episode as one of the “urban legends” Barry was investigating while trying to free his dad.

Barry Allen’s search for Aquaman was referenced as a small easter egg in a deleted scene from the first episode of The Flash. The scene depicts Barry and Joe discussing Barry’s hunt for “urban legends”, and is set prior to the explosion of the particle accelerator.  The scene was released today in advance of the first season’s debut on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD tomorrow (September 22).

Check out the clip below. One particularly enjoyable aspect is the back-and-forth banter between Grant Gustin’s Barry and Jessie L. Martin’s Joe, which prevailed throughout the first season.

For fans who are not also following Arrow, Barry is referring to his recent trip to Starling City where he and Team Arrow encountered Cyrus Gold, a man empowered with super-strength. The reference to Aquaman is small, but comic fans will remember that Arthur Curry (Aquaman) grew up in Amnesty Bay, and others will certainly recognize him as the “man who can talk to fish”.

While an appearance by Aquaman may be unlikely for The CW show, the introduction of the multiverse in the upcoming second season could allow for the introduction of other versions of characters previously off-limits to the show’s producers.

Season 1 will be available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD on September 22. Season 2 of The Flash debuts October 6 at 8:00 p.m. on The CW.
