Arby’s Bids Farewell To Frenemy Jon Stewart

Arby’s has opted to bid farewell to frenemy Jon Stewart with a hilarious ad and a sandwich tribute ahead of his final show airing tonight.

One of The Daily Show‘s funnier ongoing gags is poking fun at Arby’s.

Over the past few years, host Jon Stewart has called their food everything from “a dare for your colon” to harder to digest than “pain and grief” to how it tastes “when a cow dies.”

The food chain hasn’t taken the comments to heart, though, with chief marketing officer Rob Lynch crediting the show with helping get Arby’s “back in the conversation.” Executive Paul Brown reported an “uplift in business performance” thanks to the show’s jokes.

When host Jon Stewart announced his departure from the show, Arby’s even offered him a job.

On Wednesday night (August 5), Arby’s said goodbye to their most popular frenemy with two new ads created especially for Stewart’s final week. The first ad features a supercut of the various insults and jokes Stewart has made at the chain’s expense while “Thank You For Being A Friend” plays in the background. The second ad promotes Arby’s ‘Daily Deli,’ a new corned beef sandwich named after the show.

Stewart’s final episode airs tonight (August 6), and the show will be on hiatus until Trevor Noah takes over at the end of September.

Hopefully, the Arby’s jokes will continue.

See the ads below and let us know what you think in the comments. Are you going to take a chance on Arby’s new “Daily Deli”?

After all, as Stewart said, Arby’s is “technically food.”
