Are We Closer To A Darren Criss Solo Album?

Clare Sidoti
Staff Writer

Fans of Darren Criss have been itching for a LP album from the Glee star since about the third listen through of his 2010 EP, “Human”. There has been rumblings for a while about his progress – we know that he’s signed with Sony Music Entertainment, that he met and worked with some artists in London over the summer of 2012, and that in an interview with Hollywood Life at his Toys4Tots concert in December 2012 he said that “Slowly but surely, I’m finding the right things I would hopefully one day want to release.”

So are we any closer to being able to hold the album in our hot little hands, or at least have it downloaded on our mp3? In a very recent interview with fellow StarKid, Dylan Saunders, he spoke about how “incredible [it has been] to watch [the album] progress over the last year”. While not suggesting that an album release will happen any time soon, it sounds as if it’s in a good place and we have reason to hope that it won’t be too far off, depending on Darren’s other commitments.

Speaking of Team StarKid, they have had an unbelievable response to their various Kickstarter projects recently launched. Twisted, their parody take on Aladdin, smashed it’s $35,000 goal and currently has $130,100 pledged, Judas Redux, the Julia Albain directed play, “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot”, has raised almost $39,000, and Dylan Saunders’ debut album “Confluence” made it’s $30,000 target in five days and currently stands at $40,643. All Kickstarter projects are still accepting pledges so head over and be a part of bringing these amazing projects to life.
