You know you’re an ‘80s kid if the news that Jem and the Holograms was being adapted into a movie had you more excited than the day Hammer Pants came back into style.
A story about an average girl that is transformed into a superstar, lead vocalist and has a band all thanks to her holographic computer…You officially have our attention.
The live-action adaption of the truly outrageous ‘80s animated series, Jem and the Holograms,’has fans super excited with their casting announcement and poster releases.
The lead role is being filled by Nashville star, Aubrey Peeples, who will play Jerrica Benton– otherwise known as Jem, the rock-star lead of Jem and the Holograms. The Holograms will be played by actresses Stefanie Scott as Kimber, Haley Kiyoko as Aja and Aurora Perrineau as Shana.
The upcoming adaption, to be directed by John M. Chu, was announced last month in a YouTube video and caused widespread excitement; even getting #JemtheMovie trending on Twitter. The film will be produced by Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions, Scooter Braun Productions and Chu.
