Aretha Franklin Performs Cover Of Etta James’ ‘At Last’ On ‘Today Show’

Continuing the trend of covers as her album release approaches, Aretha Franklin stopped by the Today Show and performed Etta James’ “At Last”.

Aretha Franklin is getting closer and closer to releasing her upcoming covers album, titled Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics. The legendary songstress is returning to the scene with promo performances beginning early in the era. The latest found her stopping by the Today Show to perform a rendition of Etta James’ “At Last”.

The Queen of Soul kicked off the era by simply announcing the news of the album, before dropping her renditions of Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” and Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”. Now the time has come for the 72-year-old vocalist to drop her cover of another classic. Her performance on the Today Show found her serving beautiful vocals on top of the melody of the classic track, making the song her very own with the singing style.

The iconic diva took a step into the right direction with this cover. It is simple yet effective! For a woman of her age and career, less is definitely more and that’s the way things should work.

Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics is scheduled to drop in stores on October 21. Give her performance a look below and let us know what you think in the comment section.
