What do you do when you see the hashtag #FavNashVid trending on Twitter? Well if you’re Ariel Winter, you call out Vine star Nash Grier for his past “homophobic and ignorant” comments.
The Modern Family actress took to Twitter on the weekend to remind her followers of a clip Grier posted in 2013 where he used a homophobic slur in response to an ad for HIV testing.
Winter said, “#FavNashVid that one time he was just super homophobic and ignorant?” She followed up the comment with her own hashtag #whydoyouhavefans.
She later posted a note to her Twitter and Instagram accounts explaining her thoughts about the Vine star, calling him out for his homophobic, sexist and racist comments of the past few years.
Winter wrote, “How can one person say so many terrible things on every end of the spectrum and never realise they’re wrong? I also don’t buy that you were young and didn’t understand the impact of your words. You and I are the same age, and regardless of what you say, we live in America, not under a rock.”
Winter continued, “You only apologised for that video and stopped using that phrase after it started affecting your pocketbook and chipping away at your fame”.

This isn’t the first time Ariel Winter has used her social media accounts to speak up. Last year, she hit back at haters by telling her followers to celebrate who they are.
