We are all excited that Grant Gustin will be joining Arrow as Barry Allen, who later becomes The Flash. Gustin has already said that he will appear as Barry Allen, the forensic scientist, for the first two episodes he will appear in (episodes 8 and 9), only to become The Flash later.

The star of Arrow is Steve Amell, who plays Oliver Queen/Arrow, the millionaire-turned-superhero in the show. Amell opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about season 2 and shared some insights into Gustin’s character. “He’s a whippersnapper,” said Amell. “He’s young, he’s enthusiastic, he’s not stupid. In fact, he’s incredibly smart.”

Gustin is perhaps a bit younger than one might expect for The Flash. However, that might facilitate a special relationship with Felicity.”He’s a little naive and his level of enthusiasm and his penchant for problem-solving is something we’ve seen on the show with Felicity,” said Amell. “Their characters are incredibly similar and as a result, have an instantaneous chemistry with one another and fondness for one another.”

Whether this is a budding romance or just a close friendship, it won’t last long, as Gustin is only signed on for three episodes, potentially then leaving the series for the spin-off Flash.

As for Oliver’s relationship with Felicity, he says, “I don’t know where it’s going to end up but that relationship is going to continue to strengthen throughout the season.”

Arrow airs on The CW on Wednesdays 8/7c. Season 2 will premiere in the UK on Sky1 on October 21.
