Star of Bridesmaids Melissa McCarthy is the poster girl for plus size acceptance, however the producers of her new movie The Heat with Sandra Bullock seem to think otherwise. In the poster for the upcoming movie, Melissa is shown having been badly photoshopped  and her face looks noticeably thinner and out of proportion with the rest of her body.

There has been no reason given as to why they have felt the need to shave 30+ pounds from the Mike and Molly actress, however it is not the first time McCarthy has fallen foul of the airbrush.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, the star was noticeably thinned down for the poster for Bridesmaids.

Whether people agree with airbrushing and photoshopping or not, what everyone is agreed on is why make such a poor job of it.  The editor of online blog The Shiznit has said: “This is one of the worst Photoshop jobs I have ever seen, but it’s not just offensively bad craftsmanship – the intention behind it is downright nasty. Am I missing something? Are they trying to pretend it’s not her?”

In a world of stick thin actresses, Melissa McCarthy embraces the fact she is plus-size. If film producers don’t want a plus size actress on their movie poster, wouldn’t it be better not to cast one, rather than butcher the image of the actress they chose to cast?

The Heat is scheduled for release on June 28th, 2013.
