Na na na na na na na, Batflek.
Yes, with all eyes on Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, it was only inevitable that another Batman movie would be in the works.
Thankfully, Ben Affleck will be at the helm to direct.
Rumoured to be called The Batman, it will be part of a list of Justice League solo movies, much like the highly anticipated Wonder Woman movie, starring Gal Godot.
Affleck is no stranger to directing—in fact he’s very good at it.
His directorial debut Gone, Baby, Gone was a dark, gritty and critically adored film about a girl who goes missing and the lives of the cops on the case. He also directed Argo, which was another fine directorial effort and made Ben Affleck a director to watch. He brings a sense of gravitas and grit to his film making, which creates a compelling film so having him attached to a Batman movie seems like a logical choice.
Also, the fact that’s he’s playing the new incarnation of Batman obviously doesn’t hinder his case either.
The Batman is set to be released in 2018, and Affleck being rumoured to direct means that the film might be gaining momentum.
However, as with all things in the near distant future, there is no concrete facts regarding the movie yet, and these are just the most credible—and quite frankly, probably true—rumours being bandied around the interwebs as of late.
Regardless of how you feel about his casting as Batman, or the Bat-ears, I think we can all agree that Ben Affleck’s directing skills have been proven time and time again, so the movie seems to be in excellent hands.
So Popwrappers, what do you think about this rumour? Do you think Affleck will do a good job directing Batman for the big screen? Or would you like to see a lighter version of the character after seeing Chris Nolan’s imagining of The Dark Knight? We would love to hear your thoughts.
