One of the front runners rumoured to be taking over from Matt Smith as the next Doctor has yet again ruled himself out of the race.
Ben Whishaw, who is best known as gadget guru Q in Skyfall, has said that it would be “wrong” for him to become the next Time Lord. Speaking to the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper he said “It’s not going to be me. But I don’t mind – I don’t think you can be Q and Doctor Who. It would be a bit wrong.”
Speculation is still rife as to the identity of the actor who will become the next Doctor, with names including Dominic Cooper, Domhnall Gleeson, Ben Davies and another Bond veteran Rory Kinnear all supposedly in the running. However, Whovians could be waiting quite a while yet as Steven Moffat is not expected to make an announcement until August or September at the earliest.
Current star Matt Smith recently produced a thank you video for all the support from the Whovians over his four-year tenure as the Time Lord.
