With the exciting news that filming has finally commenced on Season Eight of Doctor Who, the star of Steven Moffat’s other hit franchise has weighed in with his opinion of the new Time Lord.
Benedict Cumberbatch, star of BBC hit Sherlock, has said he is very excited to see what Peter Capaldi can bring to the role of the Gallifreyan traveller. Cumberbatch and Capaldi recently starred together in The Fifth Estate, where Cumberbatch played Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange and Capaldi played the editor of The Guardian newspaper, Alan Rusbridger.
Speaking to UK magazine The Big Issue, Cumberbatch was full of praise for the Scottish actor saying, “[It’s] great news. I’m very excited to see him in Doctor Who. He is a class act, Peter, and a great actor.”
As we know Capaldi has just started filming his first proper scenes this week, and we can expect to see the new season of the show around September 2014.
I can’t wait to see what Capaldi will bring to the role and am impatiently waiting for Season Eight to air.
