As some of you may have noticed lately, Benedict Cumberbatch’s name has been everywhere.

He has been a very busy body with not one but three films opening at the Toronto International Film Festival and several other projects in the works – including Sherlock which is currently filming the last episode of season three.

Well it looks as though the workload may be getting to Cumberbatch as it has been reported by Variety that he has dropped out of the Guillermo del Toro horror flick, Crimson Peak.

The reasons for Cumberbatch actually leaving the film that stars Jessica Chastain , Charlie Hunnam, and Mia Wasikowska are unknown at this time.

Variety reports that a source has told them that del Toro is currently looking for a replacement for Cumberbatch that will be available to start shooting with the movie begins to film in February.

In an interview with Deadline, del Toro said that Crimson Peak will be, “a very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story. It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love, and at the same time subvert the old rules.”

The film will be old school horror with a big production value, del Toro said. “I think people are getting used to horror subjects done as found footage or B-value budgets. I wanted this to feel like a throwback.”

Why do you think Cumberbatch dropped out of Crimson Peak? Who will replace him? Let us know your thoughts!
