It looks like the Benedict Cumberbatch train just keeps chugging along. Deadline has reported that Cumberbatch is in talks to join the film Lost City of Z which will be directed by James Gray.

The film is based on the novel of the same name by David Grann. It is a non-fiction novel about a British Explorer in 1925, Percy Fawcett, who disappeared whilst in the Amazon looking for a lost city he said he found on a previous expedition.

Cumberbatch would be playing the famous explorer.

Brad Pitt’s entertainment company, Plan B, will produce the film. They also produced another film that features Cumberbatch in Twelve Years a Slave.

As we previously reported, Cumberbatch recently dropped out of Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak; though nothing is certain, this film could have been the reason.

Cumberbatch will be a very busy body over the next few days with three films opening at the Toronto International Film Festival starting September 5. He will soon begin filming The Imitation Game in London, alongside Keira Knightley.

What are your thoughts on this possible role for Benedict Cumberbatch? Let us know!
