You woke up like this: a somber tear rolling down your cheek. Well, don’t worry, Beyonce probably went to bed like that on Thursday, March 27. You are now channeling Beyonce. Except for the fact that she closed a massive year-long, 132-show world tour last night.
Standing on the stage at the MEO Arena in Lisbon, Portugal, Bey requested a single spotlight from her production team. “I want them to see me.”
“Tonight is the last show of the Mrs. Carter Show,” she said. “We started a year ago. And I want to say, this has been such a journey. In the past year, we’ve been through so much together — the Super Bowl, shooting the videos, all of these shows…When I first started the tour, my baby [Blue Ivy] was not even walking yet.”
Then came the breakdown. She stressed how lucky she felt, thanking the crowd for allowing her to have such a tremendous career. “I’m giving y’all an ugly cry!” (Don’t worry she still looked ***Flawless!)
Like it always does, Beyonce’s gratitude translated to words of affirmation: “When I fall, you lift me up. When I’m hungry, you feed me. And I just want to give you my light. I dedicate this song to you guys.” Mrs. Carter then went into her anthemic love song “XO”, much to the crowd’s oblige.
