Singer-songwriter Bianca Rose is getting ready to make 2017 her year.

British/Jamaican/Nigerian singer-songwriter Bianca Rose has been creating music for the past decade. In 2007, she self-released her debut EP entitled Truth and Tiny Tragedies and has continued with various collaborations with different artists ever since. Most recently, Bianca co-wrote X-Factor’s Annastasia Baker’s debut album, which lead to a 2014 MOBO nomination.

Rose decided to make 2017 the year for her to focus on her own music again. She is ready to release some of her songs that she has written over the last couple of years. Rose is prepared to release her second single from her much-anticipated debut album entitled No Fear Here. The album itself was partly funded by the PRS for Music Foundation and produced by critically acclaimed Jazz musician Femi Temovo. Temovo has worked with George Benson, Andrea Bocelli, Amy Winehouse, and The Roots.

“These songs are snippets of the lessons I’ve learned and am still learning. Some people believe that fear is something we should live with, or that we should use it as motivation to achieve our goals. From my experience, I believe it’s something to be conquered and routed out of every area of our lives. I try to live on a daily million to seek and destroy all traces of fear and oppression in my life. It’s the only way that’s worked for me,” Bianca said about her album.

Her single is entitled “Because of Love” and features MOB nominated singer-songwriter Ayanna Witter-Johnson. “Ayanna and I collaborated on every part of the creation of this song, from writing to recording, so it only made sense that the video was an extension of this partnership, whilst debunking the stereotype of competition between women. We believe there is a place for us all in this business so we actively make room for one another,” Bianca shared about the songwriting process.

“You rarely see two women, let alone black women represented in a music video from a place of strength but also supporting one another.  Ayanna and I collaborated on every part of the creation of this song, from writing to recording, so it only made sense that the video was an extension of this partnership, whilst debunking the stereotype of competition between women.  We believe there is a place for us all in this business so we actively make room for one another,” Bianca said.

“Because of Love” is about loving someone else fearlessly and celebrating that. Co-writing it with Bianca was a joy because individually we expressed that authentically in a way that worked together beautifully,” Bianca’s co-writer Ayanna also adds.

Biance Rose Feat. Ayanna Witter-Johnson: “Because of Love”

When listening to the song, I got major Tracy Chapman vibes from hearing her sing. Her voice is breathtaking. The song is very mellow and has a down-to-earth feeling to it. I do have to say the collaboration between her and Ayanna is fantastic as well. I loved the incorporation of the cello; it made the song that much more wonderful. The two of them just light up the room together. The music video itself was very simplistic, and I think that is what makes the song so powerful. This is a song that will make you feel better in any given situation.
