Well this is insanely appropriate.
This is The End was the last movie ever rented at a Blockbuster video store. This last official rental was made in a Hawaii store this past Saturday.
A representative from Blockbuster shared a photo on the company’s official twitter, showing two store clerks posing with the man who rented Seth Rogen’s apocalyptic comedy.

Seth Rogen retweeted this adding “This is nuts and sad”. He also tweeted about his own experience with Blockbuster:
The last movie ever rented from a blockbuster was this is the end. In high school I would go hang out at blockbuster every day.

A fan tweeted to Rogen “way to go, Seth. You fucking killed Blockbuster.” Rogen replied “it’s almost Shakespearean.”
Blockbuster was acquired by DISH Network Corp in 2011. That year it was announced that it will have abandoned the remaining 300 company-owned Blockbuster retail stores in the US by January 2014.
Blockbuster By Mail will be gone by mid-December, according to company officials.
Fifty independently owned franchised stores, however, will remain open to US customers, according to DISH Network spokesman John Hall.
