‘Black Widow’ Final Trailer: Natasha Takes On Red Room And Taskmaster

Watch ‘Black Widow’ alias Natasha Romanoff fight off her fellow Widows from Red Room who are now commanded by a mysterious masked figure known only by his call sign – Taskmaster.

The final trailer of much-anticipated MCU film Black Widow has arrived. The twenty-fourth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the first film in the post- Infinity Saga, Phase Four, Black Widow, is promising some hot action stuff as confirmed in its final trailer. This time we take a better look at the antagonist Taskmaster and get the hook of what Natasha is actually against this time. In the first two trailers, we were introduced to Natasha and her allies from her pre-Avengers days. In the final trailer of Black Widow, we see her teaming up with her former mates to take on the very organization that made her the Widow.

Here’s what the final Black Widow trailer has to offer:

Black Widow: Final Trailer What does the Final Trailer means?

Taskmaster

The mysterious Taskmaster is now finally confirmed as the new leader of female spy-cum-assassins trained in the Red Room. Natasha, who after Captain America: Civil War, has returned home to mend some broken relationships. But here she is met with an unstoppable enemy, who has a fascinating power of spectacularly mimicking physical combat movements of anyone he witnesses and observes.

Yelena Black Widow

In the final trailer, we see Natasha spending some quality time with her “sister” Yelena (played by Florence Pugh) and then shift Natasha narrating that she did something wrong in the past. We then get a bright look at Taskmaster, as he pulls off a Captain America (or maybe a Red Guardian in this case) by shielding himself from his bullets using his probably Vibranium shield. We then hear Yelena talking about Taskmaster and revealing he now controls and manipulates assassins from Red Room, and he plans to unleash them all on sisters Natasha and Yelena.

Red Guardian Black Widow

The trailer then features some power-packed action sequences involving gunfights, hand-to-hand combats, and stunts involving car chases, gun battles, etc. In the midst of all this, we see Natasha’s remaining family, her Red Room mother, Melina Vostokoff (played by Rachel Weisz), and the Red Guardian alias Alexei Shostakov (played by David Harbour).

It’s pretty much clear that it’s going to be these four against the world in Black Widow. At the same time, we might get to take a look at Natasha’s past, and I am hoping for the big “Budapest” story arc with a possible cameo from Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye alias Clint Barton. But let’s first get to the odd man out, the Taskmaster.

Natasha Black Widow

Taskmaster’s identity is, of course, going to be a big mystery and a major subplot of the story. From what it looks, Taskmaster has been around for some time and is probably hunting Yelena, who has defected from the Red Room after he took control of the group. And so it happens, Taskmaster now wants Natasha too as she has returned home. And now he’s after both of them. He is running the spy training center, the Red Room, creating Widows, who are said to be manipulated without choice by the Taskmaster himself.

What’s Taskmaster plan, it’s hard to theorize at the moment. We have a look at William Hurt’s Secretary Ross in the trailer. Now, as per the comics, Taskmaster was hired by the government after “Civil War” to take on the Secret Avengers team led by Steve Rogers/Captain America in exile. There is a pretty good chance that Ross has Taskmaster on his side to take down Natasha, but that cannot be the only reason he wants her dead.

We see Taskmaster’s abilities he’s gained from his years of observations of his enemies’ combat movements. While his shield gives him the whole Cap look, we see him pulling a “Wakanda Forever” in a physical altercation against Red Guardian, which the latter seems to be losing at this point. He also is a marksman when it comes to shooting arrows, an ability he might’ve pulled off from Hawkeye. Did both Natasha and Hawkeye confronted Taskmaster in Budapest? Who knows!

Taskmaster 2

There is a sequence where Taskmaster watches an old clipping of Natasha’s combat movements, which is from Iron Man 2, the scene where she infiltrates Hammer Tech’s base of operations with Happy Hogan. How did he get that clipping? Secretary Ross, maybe? With Robert Downey Jr. making a cameo appearance as Iron Man, I see some Sokovia Accords connection here. This is going to be a blast.

The final trailer of Black Widow has given plenty of hints, but I think Marvel has hidden some big secret for the climax reveal of Taskmaster. And that’s going to be a major blow to the audience (probably more enticing then Rogers lifting Thor’s hammer). For now, the best we can do is wait for May 1.

Black Widow releases worldwide May 1, 2020. In Black Widow, after the Civil War, Natasha Romanoff finds herself alone and forced to confront a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Romanoff must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, William Hurt, and Rachel Weisz in prominent roles with O.T. Fagbenle, Ray Winstone, and Oliver Richters appear in supporting roles. Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as Iron Man from previous MCU films.
