Bruce Campbell Set To Star In ‘Evil Dead’ TV Series

The 1981 cult classic ‘Evil Dead’ is being resurrected, but this time for television. Starz announced a 10-episode season starring Bruce Campbell.

Fire those boomsticks in celebration, Evil Dead fans, because Ash is back!

The Starz channel will air a new TV series called Ash vs. Evil Dead based on the Evil Dead movie franchise. Original director Sam Raimi and producer Rob Tapert will be returning for the project, and most exciting thing of all: the show will feature the return of Bruce Campbell as protagonist Ash! Campbell’s portrayal of the sometimes bumbling, one-liner dropping, ever-reluctant hero has made the character a Pop culture phenomenon ever since the release of the first low-budget Evil Dead film in 1981.

The official show summary reads:

“Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its ‘Evil’ grip.”

Campbell said of the new show, “I’m really excited to bring this series to the Evil Dead fans worldwide — it’s going to be everything they have been clamoring for: serious deadite ass-kicking and plenty of outrageous humor.”

The ten episode series is scheduled to air some time next year.

If you’re excited for the new Evil Dead series, let us know in the comments! To paraphrase the oh-so-eloquent Ash himself, “Buckle up boneheads, we’re going for a ride!”
