When Bruce Jenner introduced the world to Caitlyn, people felt all the feels.
She accomplished so much in her lifetime. From Olympic medalist to Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, she added just one more victory to her resume. After her spin-off show, magazine covers, and televised interviews, people seemed to like her less and less. Even though she remained an advocate for the LGBT community (specifically transgender men and women), her actions proved otherwise.
With her beautiful, private home in Malibu, heavy focus on plastic surgery and outer beauty, and allegiance to Donald Trump (she later retracted her support for him), the community saw her as a wealthy woman out of touch with the harsh realities the transgender community faces daily. Maybe she wants to change, though. When she heard of Trump’s decision to ban all transgender soldiers from the military, she verbalized her thoughts.
She tweets, “There are 15,000 patriotic transgender Americans in the US military fighting for all of us. What happened to your promise to fight for them?” She did more than just a Twitter rant, though. She also said she sides with the community, and not with Republicans. However, actions speak louder than words. While Caitlyn genuinely seems concerned about how men and women are treated by males and females, she still remains in the shadows. Her gated property, secluded from the paparazzi, make her life comfortable.
Does she really care enough to leave her comfort zone, or would she rather safely tweet disappointment from the security of her humble abode? Only time will tell. Hopefully, she sees the devastation happening to transgender men and women everywhere, so she can truly see the negative affects of bullying, sexual assault, and/or judgment that transgenders experience.
Come on, Caitlyn. If you can win medals in the Olympics and survive Kris Jenner’s wrath, then you can do anything.
