Jean Kasem’s “beef” with her stepchildren turned literal on June 1st when Jean, the wife of Casey Kasem, threw a hunk of hamburger meat at her stepdaughter Kerri.
The bizarre incident took place outside of the Washington home Jean had been sharing with the legendary DJ. Jean threw the meat down the driveway of the home in the direction of her stepdaughter as Kerri prepared to leave in an ambulance with her ailing father.
Jean used the Bible as the reason for the strange gesture, alluding to King David throwing meat to “the dogs.”
Jean was upset over the forced removal of her husband by paramedics after a judge had given conservatorship to Kerri. The legal ruling came last month following a period of time when Jean had hidden the whereabouts of the iconic radio voice from his adult children.
Jean and her estranged stepchildren had long been battling over the care of the 82-year-old former Top 40 host, who suffers severe impairment due to a form of dementia called Lewy body disease.
The meat-slinging was caught on tape, but no complaints have been filed.
Casey Kasem is currently in stable condition at a Washington hospital. The family is due back in court for a further evaluation of the situation on June 6.
Perhaps the court should advise some mental health care for Jean in addition to the medical recommendations for Casey.
