Charlie Hunnam is set to star in the upcoming adventure film The Lost City of Z, according to the Hollywood Reporter. He will be replacing Benedict Cumberbatch, who dropped out of the project due to his busy schedule.
Joining him in the cast are Robert Pattinson and Sienna Miller. The film will be produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, and James Grey (The Immigrant) will be directing.
Based on David Grann’s book The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon, the movie will tell the true story of British explorer Percy Fawcett, who disappeared in the Amazon jungle in 1925 while searching for an ancient lost city. Hunnam will be playing Percy Fawcett, while Sienna Miller will portray his wife, Nina.
The film is scheduled to hit theaters in 2016.
