It looks like we could be getting another dose of Charlie’s Angels in the near future!
It was recently reported by Entertainment Weekly that the iconic franchise that began as a 70s television series could be getting a film reboot from Sony Pictures very soon. The report also includes a familiar name as the potential director; actress (and now successful director) Elizabeth Banks is rumored to be producing and directing the big screen reboot. Banks made her directorial debut with the successful film Pitch Perfect 2 earlier this year.
We already have two films starring the marvelous Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu playing the kick-ass angels for the mysterious Charlie. The films were directed by McG, grossed over $500 million, and became a beloved film series by viewers of all ages. Of course, I would have personally loved for a third film that could reunite the well-balanced and magnetic trio, but I’ll take what I can get! There was also a series that aired briefly on ABC, and it wasn’t bad — but, unfortunately, it just didn’t resonate with viewers the way it had in the past. Hopefully, introducing a new generation to the concept of the series will flourish in the way the previous films managed.
With the possibility of more films that continue to showcase a team of unstoppable women, who would you like to see cast as the new angels? Let us know what you think of this reboot, and give us your ideal cast in the comments below!
