Get ready to do the Time Warp. Fox has recently announced an upcoming televised production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The show is slated to air in the fall of this year.
The musical started as a live show in 1973, then was adapted into a film in 1975, which included the talents of Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, Richard O’Brien, and Peter Hinwood as part of the cast.
Since then, the show has brought on a new generation of fans. Lets take a look at who will be filling in the shoes of some memorable characters and get us ready to do the Time Warp.
Laverne Cox as Dr. Frank-N-Furter
FloptvLaverne Cox is best known on TV as Sophia on Orange is the New Black. Outside of TV, she is known for her transgender advocacy. She will be playing mad scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter, who Tim Curry played in the film.
Victoria Justice As Janet Weiss
SeventeenVictoria Justice has made her mark on Nickelodeon in shows like Zoey 101, and Victorious. Since then, she had taken more adult roles (MTV’s Eye Candy). She will be playing goody-goody Janet Weiss, originated by Susan Sarandon in the film.
Ryan McCartan as Brad Mayors
SeventeenMcCartan is best known for his theater (Heathers: The Musical) and television (Disney Channel’s Liv and Maddie) talents. He will be playing Janet’s beau, Brad Mayors (originated by Barry Bostwick in the movie), an average guy until he sees what the Dr. can offer him.
Reeve Carney as Riff Raff
SeventeenReeve Carney is best known for his role as Peter Parker/Spider-man in the musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark. More recently, he went to star in Showtime’s Penny Dreadful. He will be playing Riff Raff, Frank-N-Furter’s handy man and who teaches the lovely couple a thing or two about the Time Warp.
Staz Nair As Rocky
QueertySinger and Model Staz Nair will be taking on the role of Dr. Frank-n-Furter’s creation Rocky. I am sure the fans of the show will be excited to see him in the gold shorts. You can see Nair soon in an upcoming episode of Game of Thrones.
