Tekken is an arcade style fighting game that has been around for 20 years spawning 6 installments, various tag tournament games, and even the occasional spin-off. At the Evo 2014 Tournament in Las Vegas this past weekend, the game logo was accidentally leaked in an AOL reel footage clip, prompting the Tekken producer, Katushiro Harada to create a trailer himself to coincide with the announcement.
In the teaser footage, an ominous woman is shown proclaiming the time has come, and that she must stop Heihachi Mishima. It is believed that she may be the deceased mother of Kazuya, Kazumi Mishima. Past interviews with Harada have indicated that the first family member to hold the devil gene was not Kazuya, with Heihachi knowing the originator, adding to speculation of Kazumi having ties to the monstrous power.
After the footage, the screen reads “the final battle” whether or not its the ending to the series or the Mishima family dysfunction, it’s ramping up to be an intense installment to the series. More announcements regarding the game are expected to be released at Comic Con, so look forward to more Tekken coverage!
