The latest trailer for gambling thriller Runner, Runner was released today.
The movie stars Justin Timberlake as a Princeton grad student Richie Furst who flies to Costa Rica to confront the corrupt owner of the online poker site, Ivan Block played by Bruce Wayne- sorry I mean Ben Affleck, that cheated him out of his tuition money.
Things get interesting when Richie is sucked into Block’s web and becomes his protégé.
The heady world of underground, corrupt, gambling, however, is only exciting and fun for so long before Richie realises he needs out.
In the previous teaser we’re given a taste of what kind of mentor Block would be. “If your boss says you gotta go out there and take a beating,” Block barks at Richie. “Take it and then say, ‘Do you need me to take it again?’
In the latest trailer, we’re given a bit more in terms of Block’s motives regarding Richie. Is it at all surprising that his intentions aren’t exactly good? Timberlake and Affleck seem to have a good dynamic going, if the trailers are anything to do by. Plus, the location looks amazing. We’re also told that the movie itself was inspired by true events.
Plus we become privy to a bit more of Gemma Arterton’s character, Rebecca Shafran.
If you’re keen for a crime thriller set in a pretty place (or if you just want to watch Timberlake pretend he needs glasses), then check out Runner, Runner out in theatres, September 25th.
