It looks like some of Broadway’s finest are in line to star in the upcoming comedy Opening Night. Cheyenne Jackson (Xanadu) and Anthony Rapp (Rent) are both set to star in the EBF Productions film, reports Deadline.
Deadline exclusively reports that the film will take place during the curtain call of a high school production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The film will follow the students’ disasters and drama both on stage and off stage, as well as the experiences of their teacher, and the B-list TV star visiting on the big night.
Ryan Dixon, the writer of Triplets, the upcoming sequel to the Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger movie Twins, wrote the film with Nena Girsch and Jack Henry Robbins. Robbins will be acting as director.
The film will also star Camille Cregan, Mitchell Jarvis, and Jessica Lauren Richards. Eric B. Fleischman and Girsch are producing the film, with Dixon as exec producer. The film will start shooting this summer in Los Angeles.
