A four-year-old girl was mistakenly shot in the leg by a police officer responding to a frantic 911 call at her family’s home in Columbus, Ohio.

While responding to a call on Friday afternoon (June 19) in Columbus, Ohio, an officer, unnamed, mistakenly shot a child.

The officer was responding to a call, and whilst doing so, heard screams. A woman had run out of a home, claiming her sister had hurt herself. The officer tried to help, but was attacked by the family dog at the door. The officer, trying to shoot the dog, missed and hit the young girl, 4 years old, in the leg.

According to the police department, she is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery. The woman’s sister was also taken to the hospital.
