Glee’s Chord Overstreet Releases New Song For Christmas

Check out the new Christmas song from former Glee star Chord Overstreet, a cover of a Kenny Chesney modern day classic holiday hit.

Chord Overstreet, the man who played jock-with-a-heart-of-gold Sam Evans, also known as “Trouty Mouth”, on Glee, has just released a brand new single for Christmas!

The song is called “All I Want for Christmas Is a Real Good Tan”. With a title like that, it sounds more like something that Overstreet’s character Sam would churn out. But the truth is the single is actually a cover of Kenny Chesney’s original, which was released back on January 2004.

It was pretty successful, reaching number 30 on the Hot Country Song charts, and was featured on Chesney’s album, which was also called All I Want for Christmas Is a Real Good Tan.

Let us hope that Chord can duplicate that feat!

The song has an important personal connection to the former Glee star. It was written by none other than his his father, two time Grammy winner and country singer, Paul Overstreet, who also provided backing vocals for Chesney’s album.

So this holiday single carries a much more sweet message at its center than spending the holidays at the beach. If you think about it, it’s about a father passing on his music legacy to his son. It’s about family, which makes it even more perfect for Christmas!

Think of that every time you listen to this song.

With that in mind, it seems that we haven’t heard much from Overstreet since the end of Glee up to the release of this brand new single. He wasn’t on hiatus, though; he has actually been busy with new projects.

On the acting front, he had a major supporting role in the indie film 4th Man Out, which had a limited release on February 5, 2016. And, just this August, he released his first single “Homeland”, so go check that out, too!

Overstreet also was an opening act for Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas on their their Future Now tour. And, speaking of Nick, if you have seen his music video for his single “Bacon”, you may have actually caught a glimpse of Overstreet in the background.

So yeah, he’s been around! Let us just hope he releases a full album soon. All we want for Christmas is more songs from Trouty Mouth!
