This is potentially exciting news, which I can get behind 110%. According to The Latino Review, Chris Pine’s name has been floating around for the role of Hal Jordan, or as he’s more commonly referred to, The Green Lantern. The 2011 film which starred Ryan Reynolds, failed to meet critics’ and audience’s expectations, leading to the franchise being scraped. With Reynolds unable to return as the Green Lantern (since he’s now portraying a character the fits him perfectly: Deadpool), the door is wide open for a new Green Lantern.
Although this appears to be a rumor, it has been set out in the universe and if the universe knows what’s best, then it’ll definitely grant this wish I didn’t know I had…until now. The Green Lantern will be a part of the Justice League film which is set to release in 2020. Chris Pine is no stranger to playing a galactic hero; after all, he is Captain Kirk in the current Star Trek film franchise. What’s more perfect than having Captain McDreamy don on The Green Lantern suit?
