Chris Rock has been married to Malaak Compton for a very long 19 years now. Right before the two of them got to celebrate the anniversary of their second full decade together, it seems the couple is now about to get a divorce.

As announced on Sunday, the couple decided to “go their separate ways”, according to Malaak Compton. Chris Rock moved on to file for divorce, with the papers expected to be signed as soon as possible. Both parties released statements regarding their split; they also made requests for respect towards the privacy of their daughters’ and their own, during this tough time of their lives.

Chris Rock and Malaak Compton walked down the isle back in 1996 and are parents to Lola Simone and Zahra Savannah, 12 and 10 years old respectively. Despite rumors of bad temper in the Jersey-based family coming around every now and then over the years, they have managed to stay together up to this point. As for now, they sure had their reasons to let the curtains fall on their married life.
