‘Christopher Robin’ Teaser Trailer Talk

From the studio that brought you the live-action Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella, comes the trailer for Disney’s Christopher Robin.

It was a blustery day in the last days of March, and I just realized that we still hadn’t talked about the new Christopher Robin (2018) trailer from Disney that dropped a few weeks ago!

Another live-action Disney film is on the way, which is certainly no surprise, but this is not your typical remake like The Jungle Book (2016) or Beauty and the Beast (2017). In fact, it’s not really a remake at all. Ewan McGregor (Moulin Rouge! (2001)) stars in the grown-up title role of Christopher Robin and encounters his Hundred Acre Wood friends from when he was a boy, the stuffed animal versions that is, who help him get back on his feet to find the missing zest from his life.

Already the film has a Finding Neverland (2004) vibe to itself, which certainly makes sense, as that director is the same director here, Marc Forster. Similarly to Saving Mr. Banks (2013), the trailer makes the film also have a more independent feel, something smaller and unique yet still with a Disney brand of magic. When word of a live-action Winnie the Pooh movie was in the works, people were wondering how exactly that was going to go down. From this first teaser trailer, it looks like they chose the best way possible, a slightly more “realistic” approach with the character of Christopher Robin at the forefront. That’s not to say that we won’t see some imagination throughout the film, and dare we say maybe even some Academy Award nominations? The teaser trailer isn’t very long, but it already packs an emotional punch, and we’re already getting it this summer!

Directed by Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace (2008), Stranger Than Fiction (2006)), Christopher Robin will star Ewan McGregor (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2011), Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999)) and Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), The Duchess (2008)), and the voice talents of Jim Cummings (Winnie the Pooh (2011)), Toby Jones (Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)), Brad Garrett (Finding Nemo (2003)), and Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids (2011)), and hits theaters this summer on August 3, 2018.

Check out the first teaser trailer below! And see if just a minute won’t tug at those heartstrings…
