‘Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs’ To Be Adapted Into TV Series

Riding off of the two films’ success, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs is now becoming a 26-episode television series.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs is an animated comedy that received massive critical acclaim and commercial success, as well as an equally successful sequel. Reportedly, the story is now heading to television, with a show in the works for the small screen.

The series will take from Judi and Ron Barrett’s Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs book, just like both already released films. However, it will take us back in time and serve as a prequel to the movies, presenting the events that happened before the film action took place. Sony Pictures Animation has teamed up with DHX Media for the creation of 26 episodes, each 22 minutes long.

The story of the television adaptation of Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs will take us to Swallow Falls, where high-school student Flint Lockwood isn’t happy with his life in a fish-oriented town and wishes to become a scientist, instead of a fisherman in the future. Joined by reporter-to-be Sam Sparks, the two meet with the films’ heroes, Flint’s dad Tim, Steve the Monkey, school official Manny, gym teacher Earl, model Brent, and Mayor Shelbourne.

“We believe audiences both old and new are going to love this fiercely funny franchise reimagined for the small screen,” Steve DeNure, DHX Media’s president, said.
