Concept For ‘Friday The 13th’ TV Show Revealed

With The CW eyeing to nab an upcoming, series adaptation of the ‘Friday The 13th’ franchise, the concept of the next installment has now been revealed.

The new Friday the 13th adaptation, said to be a television series, will focus on the “city” of Crystal Lake which was inspired by Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco – located in Blairstown, New Jersey. The CW has been eyeing the series and is reportedly thinking about picking it up for their thriving network. Friday the 13th creator Sean S. Cunningham is set to executive produce the series which has been respectively titled Friday the 13th: Crystal Lake Chronicles.

At the Monster Mania convention this past weekend, Cunningham confirmed the CW’s interest in the series and also stated that the show would not only focus on the city of Crystal Lake, but also the effects Jason’s rampages had on the town. Sound’s like the “horror” version of Smallville. Reportedly. the series will not be a spin-off attempt and will instead dig up the horrific events that occurred at Crystal Lake.

The CW has recently gained a ton of success with shows such as The 100, Arrow, The Flash and The Originals. The possible addition of Friday the 13th: Crystal Lake Chronicles could be what’s needed to round out the channel. The network is proving to be one that provides a mixture of supernatural elements, dystopia themes and the ever-popular superhero genre. Will Friday The 13th be picked up by The CW? Only time will tell!

What are your thoughts on Friday the 13th, the TV series? Will it work better as a show or should Jason Voorhees stick to films? Let us know in the comments below!
