Confirmed! Gay Character Will Be Featured In Next Independence Day!

Director for the forthcoming film Independence Day 2, Roland Emmerich, has revealed in an interview with The Huffington Post, that he plans to include a gay character in the upcoming sequel to the 1996 blockbuster Independence Day.

Emmerich, who is openly gay and well known for his support of the LGBT community, was asked if he would consider incorporating gay rights issues into his films, to which he replied: “Actually, in the next Independence Day there is a gay character.”

However, when asked for more details about the film, the director remained tight lipped, confirming only that Bill Pullman, who played the US President in the original film, would be back.

Last week 20th Century Fox announced that the planned release date for Independence Day 2 would be July 3, 2015.
